What is WOOT?

Most students have little or no Olympiad-level experience or instruction before they take a National Olympiad. WOOT remedies this problem by offering classes with past Olympiad winners, test-taking and solution-writing practice with feedback, and collaboration with the some of the top high school math students in the world.

What does WOOT offer?

The WOOT program includes the following:
  • 16 problem solving classes devoted to pre-Olympiad and Olympiad problem solving. Classes will be offered at a variety of levels, from those designed to help students qualify for their National Olympiads to those designed to help students tackle challenging Olympiad problems.
  • 8 problem solving articles and sets of practice problems. Each of these will prepare students for the associated classes.
  • 3 practice AIME-style tests, consisting of AIME-like pre-Olympiad problems.
  • 8 practice Olympiad tests, each structured like one day of the USAMO or IMO. Four practice olympiads will be graded, and four practice olympiads will be discussed in special classroom sessions. Detailed solutions will be provided for all practice tests.
  • Detailed feedback on student work on four of the practice Olympiad tests.
  • 6 special classroom sessions: four for going over some of the practice olympiad tests, and two for covering strategies for taking the AIME and USAMO.
  • WOOT message board for discussing problems from the lectures and tests.
  • 24-hour online classroom access for WOOT participants to collaborate.
  • Numerous International Math Olympiad participants and USA Mathematical Olympiad winners will be WOOT instructors.

Who is WOOT for?

WOOT is ideal for students preparing for a National Olympiad such as the USA Mathematical Olympiad and the USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad. Students who are not capable of consistently scoring 5 or higher on the American Invitational Mathematics Exam should strongly consider waiting until they have more experience before joining WOOT.
Due to sponsorship from The D. E. Shaw group, Two Sigma Investments LLC, and Jane Street Capital, 2016 Math Olympiad Summer Program participants are invited to join WOOT for free. Thus, all participants in WOOT will have the opportunity to train with the top high school students in the United States and around the world.

When does WOOT run?

2016-17 WOOT will run from September 2016 to April 2017. Click here for the 2016-17 WOOT schedule, which includes the topics for the 2016-17 WOOT classes. WOOT class topics repeat every three years, so WOOT classes and practice tests will be entirely different in 2016-17 than they were in 2015-16.

How much does WOOT cost?

The registration fee for WOOT is $745 for students who enroll on or before the Earlybird Deadline of August 15, 2016. The registration fee for WOOT is $895 thereafter. 2016 Math Olympiad Summer Program participants may participate for free due to sponsorship from The D. E. Shaw group, Two Sigma Investments LLC, and Jane Street Capital. Students may drop WOOT by the end of September 2016, and receive a full refund. Click here to enroll!
Please note: WOOT is not a part of the selection process for the USAMO, the Math Olympiad Program, or the United States IMO team. It is a practice program only.
